 You can't mention May 5th without Cinco de Mayo being conjured.

As well, to follow in line with yesterday's May the 4th... you could say today is Revenge of the 5th...

May 4th - that's not a moon on fire

 Okay, as a geek, I can't not call this one out.

May the 4th be with you.

With a death star blowing up, an empire raging across the stars, I'm sure they needed first responders, and one important group is firefighters.

It's International Firefighters Day.

And has been since 1999 since 5 firefighters had lost their lives in a large bushfire in Australia.

May 3 - The hidden word

 In 1948 the UN recognized the importance of a free press (it's in their declaration of Human Rights) and created today as the day for World Press Freedom Day.

I think we've all seen the importance of having a free and unfavoured press unit these past years.

Did you know today was the official first day of the geocaching activity... hobby...?

It was on this day in 2000 that someone posted a GPS coordinate on an internet board getting folks to go out and hunt in the real world.

May 2nd - Eid Mubarak

 For the members of the Muslim faith, today marks the end of Ramadan with feasts and fun with friends and family.

Eid Mubarak started yesterday (Sunday) and ends tonight.

 Yeah, today's the day you can kick off your shoes and get footloose as it's International Dance Day.

April 28 - National Day of Mourning

 In an effort to highlight and create safer work environments the government of Canada holds today as the National Day of Mourning where we recognize those who have lost their lives due to working conditions.

April 22 - We've only got the one

 In 1970 the first Earth Day was held to recognize the importance that ... hey, we only have the one earth.
