March 4 - Upper SCTV

It's a bit of an SCTV day as it's the birthday of Catherine O'Hara

She was born today in 1954.

Also, from the SCTV alumni, it was this day that we lost John Candy in 1994.

He was only 50.  I loved just about any movie he was ever in.

In other Canadiana news, it was this day that the Constitutional Act of 1791 officially separated the the Province of Quebec into Upper Canada (now Ontario) and Lower Canada (Quebec).

The idea was due to a bunch of these United Empire Loyalists who left the US to rejoin with the British empire needed a place to stay.  The western area of the old Quebec was empty so they separated them out to have them there, mostly English speaking and the Quebec part still mainly French speakers.

My family came from that area being UELs looking for a home in what's now Southern Ontario.
