April 7 - have a healthy woody beverage

Don't know if this is meant to be, but today is both World Health Day and National Beer Day (US).

Now, the World Health Organization was created on this day in 1948, and today in 1933 that an act in the US was passed to allow beer to be sold.

It's also International Beaver Day.

So have a healthy tree beer!

April 6 - Mad plaid with snacks

A fun day today - almost as much as bagpipe day - it's Tartan Day.

So which plaid do you call for your family?

Enjoy wearing some tartan with a great snack - the caramel popcorn.  It's the US's National Caramel Popcorn Day.

Apparently, it's also "New Beer's Eve" ...

...as tomorrow is a special beer day.  Stay tuned.

March 1 - Bieber Prepares for Beer Emergency

There's been a lot of 'emergency' talk lately... for the past few years really.

Well, it's apt that March 1st is "World Civil Defense Day".

The idea is to raise awareness about the planning for emergencies.

Interesting as it's also the day the US tested out Castle Bravo - a 15MT H-bomb.

That was the most powerful device ever detonated (by the USA) at the time.

Speaking of a bomb... Canada's Justin Bieber celebrates his 28th birthday today.

In Iceland, they celebrate "Beer Day" as the day they ended prohibition.

Apparently they went from 1915 to 1989.  Wow.

October 27 - An Argument over Beer Recordings

Today is World Day for Audiovisual Heritage.

What that means that it's a day chosen by UNESCO to show the importance of having recorded sound and video for historical records and archives.  Making sure we have those recordings to listen to, to watch in the future.

I was first introduced to Monty Python via listening to the radio broadcasts and was hooked.  It was funny.

One of the troupe is funny man, John Cleese, who is turning 82 today.

Wow, and I betcha still as hilariously funny today as during the Python era or Fawlty Towers era.

I bet the Python crew tended to do their best writing over a pint.  And what better day to celebrate that than with the States' National American Beer Day.

I'll leave the 'near to water' jokes to your own imagination.

October 6th - The Babysitter needs a Beer

I've been back at the ofice for a little bit now, and enjoying my bike rides in. Biking lets me get some exercise in and indulge in some vices.  One of which, just could be beer.

I almost missed this - apparently it's not listed anywhere except this US site - today is 'Canadian Beer Day'.

One person I'd share a beer with, is Elisabeth Shue.  Oh the babysitter.

Today she turns 58.

September 28 - I betcha Pierre got a lot of Dumb Questions while drinking beer

Well, last week it was confirmed our new Prime Minister was the same as our old Prime Minister, which is Justin Trudeau.  Justin is the son of another famous Prime Minister, Mr "You Just Watch Me" Pierre Elliott Trudeau.

Trudeaumania was a real thing back in the day, and the world lost PET on this day in 2000.

RIP.

When someone passes away, sometimes they hold a wake, a way to remember the good times and enjoy the life that was had, and well... sometimes have a drink.  Which is fine as it's also National Drink Beer Day (in the US, I can't find record of it for Canada).

Slainte!

Drinking a few tends to lead to a few philosophical questions - and I just love shows like "Drunk History".  Which is probably why it's also Ask A Stupid Question Day.

I've always said, there are no such things as dumb questions, only dumb answers.  Which is how I usually respond to those "hey, can I ask a dumb question" ... "only if I can give a dumb answer".

September 7th - Blue Skies & Beer

It may start to feel like fall is in the air... the temperatures are just not as warm, but there is still plenty of 'blue skies' out there, and it's the UN recognized "International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies"

Adopted in December of 2019 the day is about recognizing efforts and strengthening international cooperation in improving air quality and reduction of air pollution.

Nothing wrong with that.

And what better to enjoy that blue sky than sitting out on a patio or laying in a hammock and enjoying a nice beer.

It's National Beer Lovers Day!

I can't seem to find if it's a national (and which nation) or just one of those "yeah, we'll accept it" kind of days.

Bottoms up!

August 6th - Toe Beer

The first Friday in August is apparently always International Beer Day.

And I hear beer always tastes better when you're outside, some place warm - and if it's warm you're probably taking your shoes and socks off, so let your Toes Free with national Wiggle Your Toes Day

Sometimes this stuff is weird (not a fan of looking at pics of feet... and all I can think of is the bride sitting in Buck's back seat saying "wiggle your big toe").
