War's really hitting home

So, those of you who don't know, my good friend Robin is over in Afghanistan with the Canadian troops, right there in Kandahar.  I didn't think much of it at first, but lately as it's heated up I'm really getting a bit scared.  Well not scared so much as concerned.  Man, that would suck if he died.  Especially for Lindsay [his fiancee, and I'm in the wedding party].

Biggest thing was when Costall died during the night fight.  Hearing he was a Thunder Bay native... well in the paper they said "thunder bay native dies in afghanistan".  Man, my heart dropped.  Then I remembered he was off touring with his fiancee at the time.  He was given some leave time and she went over and they toured Europe for a bit.

Now, there's the bomb blast [click to read more].  4 were killed.  They gave 3 of the names, but are withholding the 4th name.  Why?  I completely understand for those loved ones... but... man, what if it's him?  They're just waiting to get a hold of her to tell her first before the rest of the world.  Shitty deal man.  I hope you're safe Rob.

What I do when i'm bored

So, my situation at Sears is getting worse.  Worse then I thought.  I accidentally talked to the HR people and I mentioned about how I feel like I'm being creatively dismissed [not that I used those words] and she turned.  Went from a "hey how are you?" sincerity to a "well if that's waht YOU think, you can just think that.. it's only just what YOU think".  So I'm totally disheartened by teh fact that she didn't listen to me or anything.  So I decided I need to go and do something about it now.  Gonna have to go on Pogey this summer it seems for sure.  In the meantime, what to do about Sears.  I mean I can't quit.  General principle alone.  Should I make them fire me?  I can't do anything wrong, just not in me.  What if i sued for creative dismissal?  If I were, I would have to have a case.  So for a case, I'd need proof or something.  I spent the better part of my shift making sketches of graphs and data and what not.  Here's a rough excel version of the data thus far.  [see attached jpeg].  My only concern is how do I present this sort of information in the proper light.

I think the data speaks for itself.  Tell me what you think.  Should I discuss the avg number of days worked in a month per days in a month?  Days on to days off ratio?  Days worked to days sick ratio [i have that data as wel,k just not displayed].

Any employment lawyers out there?  Lend me a hand here.  The one place you're supposed to go to for 'free' advice for Canadian employment law siad they couldn't help me in any way, even for advice because they represent Sears.  Argh... just can't catch a break against the corporate machine.

For the previous post it was the Richard Bey show that I had forgot about.

Found a new show

ok... just when you thought the endless parade of reality TV and judge shows couldn't sink any lower...

EYE FOR EYE

Wow... a judge show, hosted by Kato Kaelin, judged by Judge EXTREME Akim, and the judgements are made by some sort of physical feat.  The 2 episodes i caught today [yes, i sat through 2 episodes] the 2 ladies fought over the winning lottery ticket by dumpster diving for it, and the 2 cabbies had a rickshaw race.

For som reason I'm reminded of that old tv show .. can't remember the name.  It was a talk show where they sort of crossed Sally Jessie Raphael with Monty Hall... if somebody remembers, let me know.

The challenge

The time of the season is here [no, I'm not going to sing].  It's nice enough for me to jog.  I jogged since about the march break... but sorta on and off.  Now Mandy has sorta issued the challenge in terms of who'd lose more weight.  She's going to the gym now and again, and I'll be doing my jogging.  Can't say I've had any success.  When we weighed in I was at the MOST weight I've ever been.  The only thing I've been getting since I've started is shin splints.

So I'm spending the past couple hours doing some research on how to eliminate it.  So far it's either the shoes or the pavement.  Or teh fact I haven't run in a while.  Either way i'm icing the crap out of them.  Anybody have some good ideas for music [or ways to reduce shin splints].  Thanks

Been a while... catch up

So, it's been a while.  I think I'll use large fonts to make it seem like I'm gonna write alot:

Nah... normal font.  Even this is large I think... anyways.

What's new:

 - almost put my job in jeopardy

 - still nothing going on with Sears. I think they're still trying to get me to quit with the whole Creative Dismissal thing

 - Ye_Old_Boys club was a success, great times - over 16 different kinds

 - Mandy and Rain like Pina Coladas

 - the movie "Undead" is a real waste of time... trust me FONT>

I think that's about it... in a jiffy you're back up to speed with my life.  Nothing too exciting... nothing too boring.

Gotta get running more often.  My toe felt like it was broken so I stopped for a while.  Then Mandy made me 'weigh-in' and man, I don't think I've ever been fatter.  So today was a pretty good jog.

Until next time...
